Main Street Clock Dedication

Dedication of Main Street Clock Held

Although it was a cold, blistering Saturday morning, the spirits were high with a very warm community turnout. The Mayor Ron Dell and fellow board members dedicated the clock in the new Main Street Historical Park. Park Chairman Ken Philips presented the supporters of the clock project with certificates as a small token of their appreciation for their generosity. These donors deserve a round of applause for their strong interest in making a difference within the community, and especially on this project of bringing some historical symbolism to the community. Things to follow are actual gas lighting all along the fence area, and possibly along the streets of Main Street. There is also in the plans to bring some old railcars to the location for a possible diner. The First Baptist Church was on hand serving hamburgers, hot dogs, hot chocolate, and other refreshments, all of which was donated. Much of this under a tent for those wishing to get out of the cold.

Louis I. Mund
Life long resident of Dupo area and supporter of various projects within the community. Besides being well known he is also well respected within the community. His generosity along with all the others helped make this project a success.

Joe & Suzanne Frey – K.N.J Gas Mart
The Frey’s are second generation owners of K.N.J. Gas Mart in Dupo that has been open for business for little over 40 years. K.N.J Gas Mart not only serve gas but a variety of convenient confectionary items, along with refreshments, food, snacks, and with a take-out fast food Pizza and sandwiches called Pizza Express.  Joe & Suzanne have been supporters of various projects within the community for many years.

Affordable Dental of Illinois – Owner Dr. Gersten
Dr. Gersten in 1970 obtained a D.D.S. from St. Louis University Dental School.He open his first Dental practice in Fenton, Missouri. He also started other dental practices throughout his dental career, with his current practice Affordable Dental of Illinois in Dupo, Illinois that opened in 1997. 

Dr. Gersten was born January 16, 1935 in Syracuse, New York, is married to Martha Sue Gersten retired Medical Technologist and Flight Attendant for TWA and American Airlines. He has three children; Garth Gersten (Attorney), Seth Gersten (Accountant), Ilise Gersten (TV & Radio Journalist - Paris, France, now a Private Investigator and Head of the San Diego Jewish Film Festival). He has also seven grandchildren.

Progressive Recovery, Inc.
PRI has been designing and manufacturing fluid process systems since 1983. They specialize in systems processing hazardous materials in classified locations. Located in Dupo, IL their 60,000 square foot facility was built more than 15 years ago to meet their unique manufacturing needs. With the growing need for this specialized product, PRI has built an additional 18,000 sq ft addition to the manufacturing area.

Present for the dedication was Executive Vice President/Co-founder
Donald G. Fluchel.
He co-founded PRI in 1983 and serves as Executive Vice-President while heading the engineering and manufacturing operations of the company. The other co-founder is President/Co-founder - Daniel B. Marks. He serves as President of the Corporation. Mr. Marks has been intimately involved in the Decontamination Division since its inception over five years ago.

Both Bruce & Greg were unable to attend the dedication because of a business call out. Since 1922 Dashner Funeral Home has been a family owned and operated business, committed to providing the families in our community with quality, dignified and compassionate service. While continuing to offer traditional funeral services, they understand and respect those who choose to have a more nontraditional and personalized service.

Owner is Bruce E. Leesman, and the funeral director is Greg A. Leesman. Both are active within the community and are supporter of various community projects.
