We are a small community of about 4500 residents. We are located on the southern end of Interstate 255 across the river from St. Louis metropolitan area. There is excellent access to southern St. Louis County via Jefferson Barracks bridge and to downtown St. Louis via the Poplar Street bridge.
Dupo is a growing vibrant community. In addition to our new housing market, Dupo also boast new and newly renovated businesses, adding to the value of our village. Some recent additions are Wilson Company, Flowers Bakery, Box It Up, Lewis-Goetz & Company, Magna Auto Parts, Kuna Food Service, Eagle Services, and Miller Group. Other companies in Dupo that are expanding are PRI and the Miller Group, who are adding 100,000 square feet to their facilities.
Dupo is proud to have one of the finest volunteer fire department in the state. Due to their dedication, Dupo enjoys one of the best insurance ratings in the area. Our ambulance service is also coordinated with the fire department and provides paramedic care around the clock.
Dupo’s Police Department are members of the community and are dedicated to public service. Their efforts have resulted in one of the lowest crime rates in the metropolitan area. Officer Smith coordinates the annual “Shop With A Cop” program ensuring that between 80-100 needy area children have food and presents at Christmas.
Our park is expanding with multiple acres of playground areas, walking trails, and pavilions. Athletic fields and green space allow residents of all ages to enjoy the outdoors or just sit and take in the beautiful view of the bluffs. The area along Main Street is being revamped to exhibit a nostalgic atmosphere, highlighting the railroad and historic buildings dating from Dupo’s incorporation in 1907.
On the Fourth of July, Dupo holds an old-fashioned picnic featuring community booths, rides, softball and washer tournaments, and some spectacular fireworks. Movies in the park are free during the summer months attracting many families. In 2008, the first fall festival was held in Dupo along with the neighboring town of East Carondelet and the Sugarloaf Township District. The festival offered crafts, an art show, and a chili cook-off and wine-tasting event. Dupo has a small town atmosphere yet offers easy access to big city amenities in St. Louis. New homes, employment, and business opportunities abound. Add to that an excellent school district and great neighbors and you would be hard pressed to find a better place to live than Dupo!
So we would like to welcome you home – to Dupo, Illinois!
