Census office will be open at the village hall of East Carondelet for those needing help or information about the census.

U.S. Census Bureau at East Carondelet Village Hall

Beginning February 26 through April 19 the U.S. Census Bureau will be staffing an office within the Village of East Carondelet at the village hall. Hours will be from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. Monday through Fridays and from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturdays.

Mayor Herb Simmons announced that he has signed a “condition for donation of service and space agreement” with the Census Bureau. The Mayor and members of the East Carondelet Village Board and citizens have been working steady for the upcoming 2010 Census.

Mayor Simmons reminded his village board that during the last census the community was drastically under counted and the village expended several thousand dollars to have a special census completed. The Mayor has urged the citizens to be counted so that the village can receive their fair share of money from the U.S. Government.

There are no excuses, the Bureau has organized a much simpler form that takes less than 10 minutes to fill out. Anyone needing help can come by the village hall and receive help, have question’s answered, or pick a form.

The Mayor has expressed to the citizens that this is the best way everyone can help ensure that basic service’s stay intact, and to help keep taxes down. If a community is under counted and people and want the basic service, the money has to come from somewhere. Mayor Simmons also expressed that this should be a major project for the entire county. Every community is in the same situation with regards to budget crisis.
