DHS Hosts New Event to Bring Parents & Coaches Together
The Dupo Community High School hosted its first ever ‘Meet & Greet’ on Saturday, August 22nd. The event was well attended as school administrators, coaches, parents and students came together for student athletes competing this fall. The school and local businesses sponsored the event which provided free hot dogs, soda, and promotional items to those who attended.
At 6:00 p.m. Athletic Director Tim Stanberry welcomed everyone to the event and then proceeded to introduce the teams. Beginning with the Jr High teams he introduced each player from each team and their coaches, some of whom made a brief statement to the crowd. After the introductions were completed the High School football teams took the field for a brief, non-contact scrimmage.
Teams represented at the event were the Jr High Girls Softball team, Jr High Boys Baseball team, the High School Cheerleading Squad, Dance Force team, High School Volleyball teams and High School Football teams. The Varsity Football season begins Friday, August 28th, at home against Olney. The Dupo Dance Force will be competing Saturday, August 29th, at the DuQuoin State Fair. The Annual Dupo Freshmen Football Jamboree will be held on Saturday, August 29th. The Varsity Volleyball season begins on Thursday, September 3rd, at Madison. Jr High Baseball and Softball seasons are already in full swing.
