The students of Millstadt Consolidated Primary Center welcomed back custodian Wanda Sins who served in Kuwait for the last 8 months as a LS (Logistic Specialist) under a Customs Mission from Navel SG from Norfolk, VA.

Monday night MCS held their Quarter Auction at the VFW Post to raise money for the 8th grade Class Trip. There was a variety of items that was auctioned off that was donated by individual reps of Pamper Chef, Homemade Gourmet, Tupperware, Silpada, Scentsy, Mam Maw’s KaseKuchen, Heidi’s Handbags, Party Lite, 31, lia sophia and others.

On Saturday night the PTA held their 15th Annual Dinner Auction at Albert’s Banquet Center in Belleville, IL. The theme for this year’s auction was “Groovy Funky Flashback”, with an evening filled with groovy & funky atmosphere. Several attendee’s were dressed in 60’s like clothing, with many others wearing peace necklaces, and the likes.

Zach Skaer - The Optimist Club “Student of the Month”is St. James 8th grader Zach Skaer son of Steve Skaer and Linda Tucker. Zach’s interests are Baseball , volleyball and basketball and the Safety patrol. Alyssa Laing - The Optimist Club “Student of the Month” is Alyssa Laing, daughter of Mike and Julie Laing. Alyssa’s extra-curricular activities in school are: Volleyball, Softball, Cheerleading, Student Council, Beta Club and Band.

The Millstadt Police Department presented a four hour seminar that was geared around teen drivers age 17 and under, along with their parents, focused on the safety and the affects certain things like alcohol which endangers their lives. Officer Brandon Dugger & Lt. Alan Hucke welcomed everyone and introduced the program, with Dennis Hauch from the Burr Insurance Agency here in town to speak about the cause and affect on insurance rates when teens are involved.

This year, as I was going over plans for our annual Blue and Gold Banquet, I thought of all the activities our Cub Scouts (1st through 5th grade) and families were involved with over the last year. At the time, I said to myself, with all the support and encouragement the citizens of Millstadt provide to the Cub Scouts (especially buying popcorn) we are your family so you should know what your scouts did over the last year.

Garden Place Senior Communities welcomed new Food Service Manager Carol Schnitker in December. She is a Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) and Certified Food Protection Professional (CFPP). Carol brings a new level of service to the Garden Place Communities and is the first to oversee the dietary management of all the communities.

Millstadt Venture Crew is a club for male and female high school and college students who are at least 14 and graduated 8th grade up until their 21st birthday. They have a fencing team but we do lots and lots of other things too.
