Lady Trojans Basketball & Trojans Boys Volleyball Win Diocesan Championship!

On Sunday, March 28th the St James Trojans 8th Grade Boys Volleyball team won the 2010 Diocese of Belleville Parochial ‘A’ Division Championship. On Sunday, March 21st the St James Lady Trojans 8th Grade Basketball team won the 2010 Diocese of Belleville Parochial ‘A’ Division Championship.

Lady Panthers Volleyball Season Ends

Cougar Cut Short Panthers Tournament Run

The MCS Lady Panthers Volleyball team ended their season Thursday against the Smithton Lady Cougars in the Cahokia Conference tournament. Despite an intense, impassioned effort by the Lady Panthers, Smithton was still able to edge MCS 21-16, 21-19 to win the match and end the Lady Panthers season.

St. James Girls Rock the Jaguars 39-24

It was a packed house Friday night as the St James Lady Trojans basketball team finished the regular season in style, beating the St John’s Lady Jaguars 39-24. It was “Rock the House” night as Lady Trojan 8th grade players and their parents were acknowledged in a pre-game ceremony.

Lady Panthers Get in the Win Column!

After much hard work and some close losses the MCS Lady Panthers finally put one in the win column this past week. With a busy schedule of four games in four nights the Lady Panthers were able to come away with two victories against the Marissa Lady Comets and the Lady Tigers of Dupo.

Since the Althoff Feeder Tournament the St James 8th Grade Lady Trojans girl’s basketball team has been on a roll. After winning the Holy Childhood Tournament in convincing fashion last weekend the Lady Trojans returned home Tuesday evening to face the Holy Trinity Lady Titans. The Lady Trojans continued their winning ways defeating the Lady Titans of Holy Trinity 49-13.

The MCS 8th Grade Lady Panthers Volleyball team is good. They just don’t have match wins to show for it. Time after time this season the Lady Panthers have pushed teams to three game matches only to come up short. The result has been an 0-6 record to this point.

Although they have not even made it half way through the season it’s already been a long one for the MCS Lady Panthers volleyball team. The Lady Panthers are currently 0-5 after losing to the Lady Bulldogs of Waterloo on Thursday evening in three games 10-21, 22-20, 13-21.

Lady Trojans Take Down Titans

St James Dominates, Advances in Althoff Feeder Tournament

The St James Lady Trojans basketball team opened play in the Althoff Feeder Tournament with a dominant win over the Lady Titans of Holy Trinity 44-12.  The Lady Trojans, who are the #2 seed in the tournament, were scheduled to face the winner of Saturday’s game between Queen of Peace and St Teresas at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Lady Trojans Win in Double Overtime

St James Comes From Behind To Defeat Holy Childhood

The St James Lady Trojans defeated the Holy Childhood Lady Apaches, coming from behind to win in exciting fashion, in double overtime 38-34.  The contest was close for a half and then saw the Lady Trojans almost throw the game away only to come from behind and push it to two overtimes before getting the win.

MCS Panthers Begin Volleyball Season

MCS Loses Match to Smithton in Two Games 21-15, 21-15

The MCS Panthers opened their 2010 volleyball season at home hosting the Cougars of Smithton in Cahokia Conference action Thursday night.  The Panthers played hard and showed a great deal of hustle but came up short losing the match in just two games.  Not only was it the season opener but it was also the Panthers first conference game.

St James 8th Grade Girls Basketball Team Defeats SMSA 25-18

The St James Lady Trojans 8th Grade basketball team continued their winning ways Tuesday evening as they defeated the St Marys/St Augustine Angels 25-18.  After losing their season opener the Lady Trojans are on a tear, winning five straight to improve to 5-1.

2010 Diocese of BellevilleParochial ‘A’ Division Champions

January 25, 2010

The St James Trojans 8th grade boy’s basketball team captured the 2010 Diocese of Belleville Parochial ‘A’ Division Championship by defeating the St Joseph of Olney Wildcats 53-23 on Sunday afternoon at Gibault High School in Waterloo.  The championship victory completed a trio of decisive wins for the Trojans over the weekend.

Trojans Advanced to Diocese Championship!

St. James Defeats Holy Childhood 52-27

The St James Trojans went into the Belleville Diocesan 8th Grade Boys ‘A’ Division Tournament as the number one seed.  As a result the Trojans received a first round bye and initially would face lower seeded teams in their bracket, thus the benefit of being the number one seed. St James opened play on Saturday morning disposing of the Cathedral Crusaders in quick fashion.

MCS Wrestling Team Loses to Fulton

Fledgling Program Making Progress

The Millstadt Consolidated School Panthers Wrestling team lost Wednesday to the Fulton Jr High Panthers of O’Fallon 69-47.  There were some hard fought battles on the mat Wednesday as both teams showed a lot of grit and determination, but the relatively inexperienced MCS Panthers came up short in their bid for a win.

Trojans Take Third at Althoff Feeder

St James Dominates Holy Childhood to Win 52-24

The St James Trojans won three out of their four games last week capping it off with a 52-24 win over the Holy Childhood Apaches to take third place in the Althoff Feeder Tournament held at Althoff Catholic High School in Belleville.  It was a combination of pressure defense, opportunistic offense and consistent hustle that led to the win and continues to characterize the St James Trojan’s play this season.

Queen of Peace Runs Away with Victory Over St James

The St James Trojans 8th Grade boy’s basketball team faced what is possibly the best team in the Diocese when they took on the Queen of Peace Raiders in the semi-finals of the Althoff Feeder Tournament on Saturday at Althoff High School.  The Raiders boast a starting lineup with two players over six feet tall while the Trojans have depended on overall athleticism and defense to win this season.  The Trojans gave a valiant effort but came up short losing 51-37.

St James 8th Grade Girls Defeat ICS

It was an evening of basketball excitement Friday night as St James Catholic School in Millstadt hosted Immaculate Conception School of Columbia in a pair of basketball contests.  The 8th Grade Lady Trojans of St James faced the 8th Grade Lady Crusaders of Immaculate Conception at 6:30 followed by the 8th Grade boy’s game at 8:00 p.m.  The St James boy’s team won their game and the Lady Trojans initiated the sweep of ICS winning.37-29.

St. James Midgets win Class A Diocesam Basketball Tournament

The St James Midget boys basketball team won the Class A Diocesan Basketball Tournament held January 9-10th at All Saints Academy in Breese, Illinois. The Trojans from Millstadt easily defeated Cathedral from Belleville in the first round and coasted by St John of Red Bud in the semi-finals.
