It was a joy filled morning for some 55 pre-school children at the Millstadt Library. The library kicked-off their October Pre-School Reading Program that appeared to be a huge success. Librarian Sue Hucke was extremely animated when reading a variety of books to the children, and the children loved it. The first story read was from the book “Dewey – There’s a Cat in the Library!”, which was about a cat that was adopted by a library and told of the antics of this little cat. The next book was “Penguin’s Big Hill”, a rhyme story of a group of young penguin’s playing on a hill. Third book “Dinosaur Roar!” was an action story, not on the part of the story, but rather on the part of the children. Mrs. Hucke had them interact with the various things a dinosaur does, and the children played their parts well, roaring and the likes. Next was a prehistoric fairy tale called “Little Grunt and the Big Egg”, then last came “A Dinosaur Called Tiny.” Do you think maybe Mrs. Hucke is partial to Dinosaurs?
After the reading time all of the children broke into groups to decorated their pre-historic sheets with dinosaurs of all kinds, flowers, plants, trees, birds and even stars in the sky. They were all like eager beavers when it came to decorating. They truly had a lot of fun listening to the stories and the craft of decorating their own paper. The program when continue throughout the month of October on every Wednesday starting at 10:00 a.m. The program is for the ages 2-5 years old and must be accompanied by an adult.
