Raymer’s Celebrate 30th Anniversary

The Raymer’s (Ron & Johnna) celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary at the community building Friday, Sept. 11, 2009. They were married September 17, 1979 under the Gateway Arch at downtown St. Louis.

Although this appeared as a normal anniversary celebration for Johnna, it was really a plan hatched by her husband, Ron, to actually renew their vows, and I was part of the plan. Ron told Johnna that the reason for my appearance was to cover this story for the Community Times. This was partially true, however I was really there to officiate the renewal of their vows. I was wondering the whole time what Johnna was thinking, “the press shows up at her anniversary party, with his wife, and eats our food as well, how dare he.” But she seemed to be very gracious about the idea of the press in attendance.

When Ron made the toast he ask Johnna if she had to do it all over again, would she still say yes. Ron began to sweat big time, thinking what if she says no. But, all kidding aside Johnna did not hesitate one bit with a reaffirming yes. At that moment Ron informed her exactly why I was really there for, to renew their vows. I can tell you she was completely surprised, but I believe pleasantly surprised.

Overall, it was a wonderful evening for the Raymer’s, their family and their friends, and I was honored to be apart of it all. Happy Anniversary Ron & Johnna, may you both have many more blessed years together.
