CONCORDIA CHURCH DINNER AUCTION!
Quail Club Hosts 5th Annual Fund Raiser
The Concordia United Church of Christ held their fifth annual Dinner Auction on Saturday, October 17th at the Quail Club on Concordia Church Road. The event was well attended as people from the surrounding area gathered for an evening of food, fun and fellowship. This year=s theme was the “Nifty Fifties” and the decorations and music reflected it.
The night was filled not only with good food and good music, but perhaps the most popular event of the evening was the silent auction. Items and services for a variety of uses were available for auction including sports collectibles, homemade crafts and quilts, various pieces of art work and an abundance of gift baskets filled with products to satisfy nearly every taste and interest.
Doug and Debbie Gain of Concordia United Church of Christ coordinated this year’s event. The annual Dinner Auction is the church’s largest fund raiser of the year. All proceeds from the event go to the church’s general fund to support ministries like the church’s food pantry, kinder cottage and the migrant worker head start program. The first dinner auction held raised more than $5000.00. Last year’s event raised more than $15,000.00. With the current economy the church doesn’t expect to receive last years total but said they are happy with whatever folks are able to give.
Concordia United Church of Christ would like to acknowledge the help and assistance of the following sponsors who partnered with them in the preparation of this years dinner auction; Hanks Excavating, Kostelac Tree Service, Prindable/Schumacher Auction Company, Westview Auto Body, Dills Floral Haven and Millstadt Carpet.
